PSTN, or Public Switched Telephone Network are the traditional ‘copper phone lines'. They are the original analogue telephony network that the majority of consumers in Australia make use of every day. They are the basic home phone line, but also used in businesses both large and small.
PSTN lines allow not only voice traffic, but data transmission via fax machines or internet services via ADSL internet. PSTN lines are preferred when a consumer only wants to pay for what they are using. They can be configured into relationships with other PSTN lines such as line hunt groups and can have voice mail and diversions attached to the line for extra charges.
